Notre Dame du Monde

Oiling her for the first time

Rosslyn, Angela and I all went to see her at Leigh Conkie’s place.

We felt honoured and intimate with her as we oiled her.

Our first Visit

This day I, my husband David and Angela went to see her for the first time. (Rosslyn would see her a few days later).

I shared with Angela my nervous agitation. She was calm and her awareness was that all was well. We walked towards her, Leigh and Hikaru were not outside yet. As Angela and I turned to see her from the front, we were both in awe of her energy. She was beautifully potent, strong and perfectly imperfect in the form of her choosing.

I also realised what my agitation was. From the moment Divine Mother communicated her choice and her instructions to come into form, I had taken on a deep responsibility to ‘do’ this for her, for the world, as she intended. Her creation was ‘out of my hands’. I was now ready to release any lack of peace I had experienced. I recognised the same agitation when I chose to take responsibility for the care of my father after his passing. Peace came them when I placed my father in the ground.

David shared something interesting. All will find her my looking to the Southern Star.

Angela and I with her now completed. Her potent and loving energy already perceivable.

The Black Madonna was commissioned

We commissioned the work to Leigh Conkie. I, Rosslyn and Angela has prepared a brief including photos of images we was drawn to include to form inspiration for the carving. I translated it into Japanese for Hikaru who was carving her. She was created over the Easter period.

After handing over the specifications I began experiencing an anxiety I could not explain. I continued to surrender to God in every moment, surrendering both my anxiety and how the Black Madonna would look once carved.

During the period she was being created, we did not see her. I received assurance from Rosslyn’s words: “It is in her hands now, she will be as she chooses to be.”

She was completed on Monday 13th April 2010 with only a few finishing touches needed. The photo below is how she was that day (photo taken by Leigh Conkie).
